Description
This year’s Business Development Session will feature Nest, the smart thermostat company purchased by Google’s parent company, Alphabet. Nest will speak on the market opportunity that the Internet of Things (IoT) represents for electrical contractors. The session will also include two other presentations by Cisco and Philips Lighting on IoT and Power over Ethernet (PoE) as well as a presentation featuring a panel of contractors discussing helpful resources available to NECA members.

Gene LaNois, Head of Professional Channel, Nest
Gene LaNois is the Head of Professional Channel at Nest, where he leads business and partnerships with professional installers around the world. Gene began his career as an HVACR contractor and brings more than two decades of experience in HVAC sales, distribution and installation to his current role. Prior to joining Nest, Gene served as an integral member of the teams at Honeywell, Carrier Enterprise, and Watsco.

Philips Lighting Jon Zelinsky, P.E., Director, Contractor Marketing for Philips Lighting, has more than 25 years of progressive responsibilities working in the building construction industry, creating value for architects, engineers, contractors, and end users / building owners in the areas of energy management and integrated building systems. With a strong engineering background and business acumen, Jon brings key insight from both the engineering and business perspectives to drive innovation and market adoption of new products and technologies that support energy efficiency and high performing building systems. Jon holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the New York University Stern School of Business and a Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University. Jon is currently a licensed professional engineer in PA, NY, and MA.
